Top Trends 2017

Trends

There are a few things which I’m slightly infatuated with at the moment. These items are at the forefront of fashion and are trending everywhere from runway, to Instagram & all the way down to the streets. They’re seen on every big name celebrity & fashion model and what I adore about these trends is that they’re not only reinvented from past fashion trends but they’re adaptable to almost every type of outfit. With the ever changing fashion front, each new trend that comes around is literally just doing a loop from a past era; clothing that my elegant grandmother would have pranced around Sydney wearing in the 50’s has made a come back at least once in the last few decades. But what is so exceptional about these tendencies is that every time an era of style is brought back to life it’s reinvented to be this casual nonchalant phenomenon.

Trust me, there were so many times that I would see an item reappearing from the 80’s or 90’s that I really wish would have just stayed there, but then I unintentionally see it worn in the most stunning way by someone who actually understands how to wear it and I immediately have to have it – That’s simply the beauty of fashion isn’t it? - Something that looks unparalleled on you may look plain and boring on someone else.

↡So, without rambling on any further, let’s talk about some of the latest trends that I am loving😊↡

 Loafer Love ⧪

Loafers are your idealistic preppy fashion shoe, they not only lack laces but they slip on easily for minimal effort (and they happen to remind me of grandpa Simpson). However … needless to say that I love them! Designers like Gucci have made them fabulous in my eyes with their fur lining, endearing top buckles and shiny leather exteriors … it’s hard not to want a pair. The loafer started its imprint as a men’s fashion shoe worn by the Ivy League crowd. However, these days it has been transformed into the ‘It girl’s’ statement accessory and looks remarkable paired with a collection of different clothing options. This brings me to my main point about loafers, not only do they make a basic outfit look model worthy, they also go with pretty much everything – Including/ Overalls, denim & tailored shorts, frilly summer dresses, jeans and midi skirts! – to be honest, the only thing I probably wouldn’t paired them with is a maxi skirt 😊 (but that’s just me)… ⇿

 Scarf Additcion
Scarves worn in the hair are a perfect feminine touch to an outfit. I would personally add them to a plain black outfit for a pop of colour or have it match the colour of my outfit like in the second photo below. I love how these accessories can be such a pleasant enhancement to an outfit & they can also be worn a number of different ways. Scarves are so adaptable as they can not only be worn in your hair, but they can also be tied around your neck, added to a bag handle or tied around a beach hat for extra colour.

Mum Jeans

High waisted jeans rose to fame in the 80’s & 90’s (think 90210) and slowly dropped out of fashion in the 2000’s as hipster &  flared pants made their come back. Now I, just like the next person, love a good mum jean - however it needs to be made properly. I believe it’s important to invest in an expensive, well-made mum jean which flatteringly cups the bum & extends the length of the hips. If you do this, you can re-wear them again and again until they become vintage – as well as this, they won’t lose their shape because they’re made with high quality material which pleasingly shapes your body.

⧪Crazy Sunglasses⧪

There isn't to much to be said about these sunnies other than the fact that they look like the ones I wore when I was 5 back in the 90's... but hey, they're still cute and these fashion models make them look even cuter! I guess with the right outfit they can look fashionable and chic!
So below are a few of my favourite looks and it's safe to say that Olivia Culpo is killing this trend at the moment (as well as every other trend out there) I might just love her ok ... šŸ˜ŠšŸ’š❕

⧪Sculpted & Overexaggerated Tops
Ruffled & over-sized shirts/blouses are a standalone statement piece. There is really no need to add any other accessories or bold shoe as this will simply overdo the look. These types of garments remind of the clothing worn at the turn of the century (early 1900's) as they're light weight & ethereal. I adore these tops as they represent modern femininity and they are perfect with a basic jean or skirt. Some of my favourite looks are seen below⬇
